Yea but what is lackluster about big Sam?

What he did at Bolton is incredible. They were a nothing team with no pedigree in the EPL and he turned them into a significant Premier League force who all team hate to play away.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know that. You are trying to level me when I was in edit mode. Relax . . .

Sam Allardyce is solid and Newcastle is lucky to have him . . .

Well there has been alot of discusion about if Totenham or the Arse would come 4th, I have assumed so far that we are talking about 4th from bottom.

[/ QUOTE ]Of course you're being leveled, TOAFK is a Chav supporter and resident SE douche.

Reo, I agree that Aston Villa are definitely a team on the rise. I am not big on Pompey though. They started out red hot(I believe they were top 5 for a decent stretch to start the season) but they slumped later on. Curious to see how they play, but they can't be improving that much by constantly signing Arsenal retirees.

I am not big on Bolton at all this year and I think they will probably fall out of the top 10.

...I am thinking my Arsenal are getting a trophy this year.

My prediction for the top 4.
1.ManU
2. Chelsea
3. Arsenal
4. Pool

...

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm also of the opinion that Arsenal is more likely to finish 5th than 3rd. At the risk of looking really foolish next spring, I'll attempt to predict the entire table:

1. Chelsea
2. Manchester United
3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal
5. Tottenham
6. Portsmouth
7. Blackburn
8. Everton
9. Bolton
10. West Ham
11. Manchester City
12. Newcastle
13. Aston Villa
14. Middlesbrough
15. Fulham
16. Sunderland
17. Reading
18. Birmingham
19. Wigan
20. Derby

But I really have no idea what I'm talking about.

Because they're awesome. I think a more realistic placing for them is 8th-12th or so, though I'd love to see them higher. They're not better than the big four, or Everton or Spurs, or Newcastle. Rovers, Villa, maybe Bolton, maybe Reading are more in their league. They'll only get a spot in Europe if the above underperform and/or they overperform.

Edit: Fixed stupid mistake. I wouldn't be surprised to see Everton finish higher than Spurs this year in 4th or 5th.

Yeah you're right. I don't know why I put them so high. I imagine by the time the season starts I'll have second guessed my entire list.

Anyone want to make the case for some sleepers in the 4-10 range?

ThaSaltCracka 08-04-2007 03:19 AM

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2007-08 season Thread!*****

sleeps who could make it there?
I think Newcastle, Villa, West Ham, and Man City could all finish there.

The whole league seems to have gotten better, sans Wigan and Boro(IMO). Eh, I guess Fulham hasn't done much either. The bottom 5 or 6 are probably going to be pretty bad, but I think the top 7 or 8 could be better overall than last year.

I don't see much difference between 6-8 on my list and maybe Man City as well. No real reasoning.

Does Cahill's foot injury seem like something that could linger/reoccur?

Arsenal beat Ajax today to win the Amsterdam cup. Second pre-season tourney they won. Good pre-season for the squad. Look forward to next Sundays ass beating of Fulham.

Fulham will probably be in the same position they were in last year. Struggle all season, barely avoiding the drop. Derby, Wigan are dropping for sure IMO. The last one is still up in the air.

Who have Sunderland signed? Kieran Richardson doesn't count. McShane and Chopra are decent I assume, but these are all Championship players... Yeah, Keane might've looked like a genius but it was only one season in the Colaship.

Allardyce told the Daily Mail: 'It doesn't look as encouraging as we first thought.

'The tear in the muscle hasn't healed as quickly as we would like, so there's no point in making any rash decisions just to get him fit for the start of the season.

'It's about getting him 100% for playing matches on a regular basis. That's why it has been more disappointing for him that he's missed pre-season games more than training.

The Chelsea midfield was nonexistent the entire game. Abramovich needs to hire someone who can help this team with PKs.

Looks like Kieron Dire won't be moving to WestHam after all. Going to have to get rid of him from my fantasy football.

Also looks like JT misses the first month so hopefully Chelsea will ship goals left right and centre.
