I got it, you make a true hybrid game

all the players in the same room, all on like 4fullring tables(on laptops) sitting around the table, so they can see and talk to the other players(but obv can't see the comp screen)

qp,

"would be cool to see some 2p2ers man up but i doubt it happens"

A bunch of 2p2/online players stepped up to play 500/1k+ NL/PLO when that game went at the Bellagio during the WSOP. There's no shortage of online players willing to play big vs. live pros.

yea youre right but i still doubt it. tons of online guys are out there in the summer for wsop but like mr. fwf said who wants to fly across the country to sit around a table with live poker players just to prove a point?

I was at the Bellagio on Sunday afternoon and there was a game going that for what I saw had Brandon Adams, Kenny Tran, Minh Ly and what seemed to be Patrick Antonius (the big game was also running with Doyle, Johnny, Jen and Lyle)

Anyone know what were they playing on the first table?

I think even at 6-7-8 handed tables the online pros will lose a lot of money to the live pros

This is the other major factor that doesn't get discussed much in the online vs. live debates. Online cash players are mostly shorthanded specialists. Live cash players are mostly ring game players. Since the two types of games play very differently, the format of any challenge match will be huge.

Going from shorthanded to ring game play requires a significant adjustment. The opposite is true, too, which is why a lot of ring game players get run over shorthanded. Adjusting isn't always easy, but a failure to do so is costly.

BTW, Barry Greenstein, in his analysis of Patrik Antonius, notes that Patrik's main weakness is ring games (i.e., his lack of adjustment from shorthanded play).

If any challenge match comes off, an edge will go to the live pros if the format is 9- or 10-handed.

Can you expand on duplicate poker? I've been trying to get info on it. Totally legal in US? Are you playing it online, do you know anyone playing online? All info appreciated.

Thanks,

Roger

I know that the big games at the Bellagio and Venetian, while not actually closed to others, often start with a full table of invitees. But during the tournament that isn't true. Or if it is, there will be a second game. So it will be a simple matter for internet players to try to make Kenny Tran eat his words. If you do play, please introduce yourself to me.

[/ QUOTE ]

I won't be playing the cash games, but will be playing the the WPT at Bellagio. Hopefully I'll see you there.

It should be a great couple of weeks of poker.

does David S really play in htese big NLHE games? i didn't think he was a specialist in that game.

[/ QUOTE ]

you think its a coincidence that the games are usually invite only?

[/ QUOTE ]

Excuse my ignorance on this, being a small stakes player, but why would they make these big games invite only? Seems they would want to make it easy for lower stakes players to take shots out of their bankroll. I'm sure there would be some hit n runs, but also lots of people donking off their whole bankroll in games they didn't belong in. Why would they not spread as many big stakes games/tables as their were interested parties for?
