My guesses: BCSCG Georgia vs. OSU Fiesta Oklahoma vs. ASU Sugar LSU vs. Hawaii Orange VT vs. WVU Rose USC vs. Kansas [/ QUOTE ] One time. This is exactly what I was thinking/hoping. I like ASU over Illinois because they play in a better conference and have had more national exposure over the year. Plus, they actually won this week and will be ranked higher. Of course, the Rose Bowl wouldn't take ASU, but since OSU is going to the NC game, the Rose Bowl will have the first pick among the at-large teams. Kansas is easily the most attractive nationally and will be selected. Then, it just comes down to Illinois and ASU in the Fiesta and I'm hoping that the Fiesta will take the local team that accomplished something for the first time in the football history of the State of Arizona. |

I'm not a huge numbers guy, can someone tell me very briefly why USC is not being considered more for the NC? [/ QUOTE ] Stanford is not a very good football. |

Re: BCS Bowl Matchups Speculation
Florida gets screwed by the no more than 2 BCS teams from one conference rule. So does Missouri. BC and UT drop out due to losses. Hawaii gets automatic bid. Illinois moves up enough to get picked, but would still have to leapfrog several higher ranked teams to get Rose Bowl berth. Fiesta Bowl will likely stiff ASU for economic reasons (fans who don't have to travel don't spend much money). Will a team lose its conference and have a shot at the title?
My head hurts, but in a good way. |

Re: BCS Bowl Matchups Speculation
OU vs. KU is an enticing matchup in the Fiesta bowl.
Of course I'm biased as an Illinois student but I personally think: USC vs. Illinois OU vs. KU are pretty enticing matchups. |
Re: BCS Bowl Matchups Speculation
I think ASU is most likely to get shafted.
If they make it, then Illinois is out. |

Anyways, KU really should be thrilled with a BCS berth because they certainly don't deserve it over Mizery. |

Re: BCS Bowl Matchups Speculation
Do you think coaches or media will intentioanlly vote teams they don't want way lower than they believe they should be? I really hope some coach votes Georgia or Va Tech like 20th so we have some scandals to talk about. I mean, if I were a coach I would do it and I have to believe a lot of coaches will too.

The Rose Bowl took an at-large B12 team (Texas) twice in the last 5 years.

Re: BCS Bowl Matchups Speculation
I really think Va Tech has a much better shot than people here give them. They should have the best computer scores for the teams in the debate so as long as the gap is relatively small I think they could jump LSU. People like to argue the computers don't have as big of a say but the percentage gaps between places in the computers seem to be bigger than in the polls.

This is just a guess of course but I won't be shocked if it happens. |
