Re: CheaterStars and Fake Locations

You don't think people that live in the same town/university/go to the same school are more likely to collude with each other? Most friends (especially school or college age) live in the same town or suburb.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sure, but people on the internet can collude, too. I don't live in the same state as any of my poker playing friends, so if I wanted to collude, I'd do it over IM/phone.

If what you say is true, why does Party go the trouble of having address verification? Why do all poker sites show a person's location (with no option to turn it off)?

[/ QUOTE ]

Party isn't just concerned about someone's city. They want to see the whole street address. They want evidence that you are who you say you are, living where you say you are living.

As for showing the location, it's probably because players find it interesting to see where others are from.

This is part of what I mention in the OP too. Stars doesn't seem to care much about identity verification - the location is just one example of something which they clearly tolerate.

All of these things, and the fact that they'll gladly refund a proven cheater's money, makes it easier for cheaters and underage players to flourish.

Damn near everybody is colluding on UB.

I dunno, Phil. A while ago Party had 20+ bots running simultaneously. And they'd been playing since at least mid-Feb. If Party has an iron-clad ID system, apparently the bot owner found a way around it.

it's not as easy to do this on Party as it is on Stars.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, its not as easy, but its still pretty easy. I don't see party's system blocking anyone from colluding who is intelligent enough to collude profitably to begin with.

What has caused you to come to this determination?

Everyone is representing The United States of America.

I think that stars should have harder verification. For me, when I think someone is colluding, the very first thing I do is look at their locations.

Re: CheaterStars and Fake Locations

It's a joke.

On UB it doesn't give the city name. It lists the country name instead.

So using the logic that 'same location and at same table = possibly cheating' then there are LOTS of cheats at UB because most are listed as 'United States of America'.
