Yep, a schedule is the key. The problem is you say "I need to spend 5 hours doing this stuff over the weekend", but don't plan when to do it. So subconciously you think "man, 5 hours in a 60 hours weekend - no problem". Then it's 9 PM SUnday, and you haven't done anything.

Planning seems trivial, but it's actually important.

"This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time. You can't do anything to change the past and the way to changing the future will occur in the present."

I have to agree with the other posters regarding scheduling time to study/do homework. However, if you find this hard to do, see if you can get a group of people together to meet every week an do your work together.

I'm not talking about a study group where it just meets for one class, but a group of people that will give you hell if you don't show up, and will get you to work through peer pressure.

Better yet, see if some folks you know already do this and will let you join them. If you had to set it up yourself, you'd just keep putting it off.

The main cause of procrastinator threads is that chronic procrastinators tend to write threads when they should be doing something else.

Ding ding ding!

Assuming that you're not a total bum, the schedule suggestion is the best one--prioritize what you have to do, figure out what's reasonable to do given the time you have, and do it when you plan on doing it. Ideally, you should finish what you plan on doing and maybe do a little more, thereby freeing up time for later in case something unexpected happens (like an unexpected homework or free bagels). A good thing to have is a pocket-sized notebook in which you can jot down quick notes on what you ought to do when. It doesn't even have to be that specific. Here's what I have for today:

TUESDAY: finish Analysis, get LA notes, maybe start DiffEq studying.

It will come naturally eventually.

ETA -- on the other hand, if you're not used to this, you might want to be more specific, figuring out specific times for specific subjects.

unplug your internet

Works well for me when I need to write an essay. Since it's so late, there's nothing good on tv other than poker, which I have seen before.

I take lots of freecell-music breaks though.
