Re: check behind or fire

I'm going to disagree with most here. I like checking behind.
Basically I hate bet/calling & I hate bet/folding whilst I think checking has pretty decent implied odds versus 2 players on this board with position & you have shown no strength. We can also profitably put money in on an Ace turn & maybe profitably semibluff shove certain turn cards against certain actions. We many g
I disagree with many points listed above. Sure you've hit one of the things you wanted, but that in no way means you have to play it agressively.
Overbetting the pot so we have the odds to call a shove also makes no sense - this means we're actually losing even more equity when someone shoves because we can't make a profitable fold. An overbet doesn't look especially strong so we don't have much more fold equity. People aren't flat calling it particularly often & bluffing with total air isn't profitable here so overall betting can't be that profitable.
So I go against everyone & check.

I still think you have to bet this flop.

Yes.

So I think your only mistake was the bet size. Against CO's stack size you have to overbet the pot - I'd make it 4,5k.

Personally I think betting t4,500 is terrible. Pricing yourself into calling a shove is such bad reasoning.

The reason for betting t2,000 (or close to that) is that you can then bet this amount in the same situation with: a set, top pair, etc etc. You wouldn't bet t4,500 in those situations so why do so now.

Under your reasoning you might as well just shove the flop for t40,000 when checked to. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that that is terrible too.

You should bet 2,000 and not fold.

im glad this has sparked some good debate. as i thought there isn't an overwhelming consensus. of course the type of players in the pot matter. here i don't recall meaningful notes. i don't like the overbet. i don't want to price myself in when BEHIND and stuck in a big pot. ive taken what you guys have said and i now think i played the hand optimally and the villain just outplayed me.

i HATE a raise preflop. its a steal and if called im playing w a dominated hand and not 2 live cards. and then i have to c-bet and committ a bunch of chips. im not afraid to play flops.

I like a check behind there. Mostly cause it has two broadways. If we bluff, why not bluff the turn instead? The BB can probably check any jack/ten. Broadway heavy flops tend to hit people stronger because weak people like to limp them so they can see if they hit the flop first. So CO could be check raising.

If we bet that flop(and they fold), it's likely that we have the best hand all along.

if I bet, it's 1500 tho. cause I'll fire two barrels if they want to call with underpockets
