fees,

Gambling winnings aren't taxed in many countries. Unfortunately, tax codes for U.S. citizens dictate your liable to pay taxes on that income as a U.S. citizen.

i might be down for this, but i couldnt do some 45 minutes from downtown place.
you gotta be where the action is, and driving for 1.5 hrs everyday would suck.

look at some houses on s.granville st, kits, and bigass penthouses downtown.

probably be a better bet.

I understand where you're coming from but you can't really get a HOUSE downtown. I'd much rather get a ballin mansion 30 - 40 mins away from downtown than a 600 square feet apartment right in the heart of vancouver. Great thing about vancouver is that there's action everywhere.

Capodu, sweet I'm gonna PM you

Maulik, what can I do to avoid paying taxes, do I have to str8 break out of this country? How am I not considered a citizen anymore?

What are the actual tax evasion risks if I'm abroad, and does the country matter (like canada versus monaco or something)

fees,

you can get a tax exemption for your first $80k income if living in another country, but you basically can't come in the US during the year(except for like 30 days). So if you're making good money, that tax exemption is potentially like $25-$30k in your pocket right there.

Maybe compared to Victoria, but compared to most cities in the world Vancouver is very tame and laid back. For a group of guys in their early 20's you would be crazy to not live in the downtown core. Proximity to young beautiful women should trump your desire for showing cool pictures of your house to 2+2.

of course that trumps... its just that i don't see 30 mins from downtown core to be far. Plus, what a better way to have girls back to your place.

When are you thinking of doing this? Dec 1?

I think you could find a decent, but not that balla house in kits. Right next to the beach, close to downtown and super laid back area.

If you are into snowboarding then you could find some super balla houses on the north shore, about 20 mins from downtown probably, but traffic on the lions gate can be fustrating.

The 45 minutes places are actually pretty far, it would be a huge waste to live in richmond/surrey/langley/most of burnaby imo, it's just too boring.
