There is nothing wrong with your computer. Do not attempt to adjust the monitor. We are controlling the transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your computer. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to $.05/$.10 NL.

Next you're gonna tell me that it's possible to log onto a superuser account, watch a tourney as an observer, see everyone's hole cards, and then pass on that info to a buddy so he can do things like call an all-in bet with a ten high.

I'm new here so I'm not to sure how to link another thread into this one? But I did read a thread within 2+2 about this and it gave a link to youtube with a video of Phil Laak at the university of alberta (which i think some students made this bot?). The video is roughly 10 minutes long. Phil comments about the bot's play and eventually ends up about $150 buck after two days of playing.

Why? That would be a good place to test a bot. Also, even if the bot does not win much per table-hout, that can add up to a lot if the bot multitables all day.

Some poker sites are said to use bots instead of or in addition to using prop players.

I, personally, think it would be ridiculous to build a bot and have it play the 2NL tables all day. #1, you aren't going to make much even if you do run it all day. #2, the players are so poor that you probably couldn't even program it to adapt properly, and #3 having a bot running 24/7 could probably raise some eyebrows with the host site.

Testing is a different story, but running, nah.

Re: sites using them. What sites are said to do this? And is this an unsubstantiated rumour or has it been uncovered somehow?

For what it's worth, I can't recall any point in my poker career (either the part two years ago when I started playing or when I restarted this year) that I suspected I was playing against a bot.

i am pretty sure that sites like pokerstars don't allow bots and once detected they are instabanned.
