As this prize is pretty far from being a peace prize but a way of the norwrgian government of showing what policies they support that will not happen

I thought the 97-prize that was handed out to an organization that works to ban landmines when that was the flavor of the year after Lady Diana died had topped it all, but that was merely the beginning.

The Nobel foundation lost all it credibility when they awarded Yasser Arafat the peace prize in 1994 . Al Gore should be embarrassed to be part of that club now.

What did he do to "deserve" it anyways?

Al Gore is awesome. Without Myspace and midget porn, I may have a life today. And something about his BS movie makes my new GF all horny, cuz she's a flaming bedwetting treehugger, so he's done good by me.

Re: Al Gore receives Nobel Peace Prize

Good for Gore, he absolutely deserves the award. Global warming has been demonstrated over and over as a huge crisis that we are bringing upon ourselves and Gore has been a worldwide leader in the fight to stop it. On that basis, he clearly earned the award.

I'll conceed that the Nobel Prize committee was trying to make a political statement as well, but I don't see that as a bad thing. The number one obstacle to doing something about global warming is the myth among American conservatives that global warming isn't real. The sooner we can pound through their head the overwheliming evidence to the contrary, the better. The Nobel Prize is one of two awards recognized universally as a great achievement and hopefully this will expose more people to reality.

So for the 2nd time the Nobel Peace Prize is more of a showing that "this is how much we disagree with George W. Bush and how much we value notable American politicians who are known opponents of him".

There are few things that promote peace more than being a known opponent of George W. Bush.

Believe it or not, the vast majority of American conservatives believe global warming exists. The problem for us lies in the alarmists, like Al Gore, who use inaccurate, intentionally misleading information to make people believe that THEY are the cause of global warming. It was recently ruled in an English court that Gore's movie is politically partisan has no less than 11 material inaccuracies. Furthermore, the fact that a man who preaches environmentalism, owns a house that takes up an un-Goldly amount of energy and jet-sets around the world in a gulfstream is very offputting to most people and exudes hypocrisy on every level.
