Is this one of those I am leaving before things get real bad down here moves? I think it is a good possibility. With limited spending, core of the team getting older, farm system weak. Ugly time to be a Braves fan.

ESPN's saying he's moving up to president. Reports of the apocalypse are quieting down.

I wouldn't exactly call the Braves farm system as "weak". It took a hit after the trade for Teixiera, but they are still probably a middle of the road farm system.

The Braves payroll is actually going to increase some over the next few years. They were recently purchased by Liberty Media who claims they will open up the payroll some over the next few years.

Not to mention, this team is far from old outside of Chipper & Smoltz. If anything they may be getting younger in CF & most likely at SS w/ Escobar. One of the younger teams, I believe.

Re: Schuerholz stepping down

Yeah, and the only reason the farm system might be weaker is because it has been used to fill the major league roster in the past few years. Sure the farm system looked stronger when it had Francouer, McCann, Escobar, etc. down there.
