Have you ever read TPFAP? "If you bust, you're busto" (I paraphrased). That means you only get one shot. Calling off your whole stack w/ one pair. Meh. I'll pass and laugh when I have all the chips @ the end of the tournament (meaning, after I've won).

They have any pair or some other stuff that looks pretty and we have a really big AND pretty pair.

Mike, this is the middle of a $5 rebuy tournament.
If poker could be reduced to (true) one line slogans, people wouldn't still be playing it.

This advice is terrible here, and almost all situations. Don't think putting 10% of your stack in and folding is something you do without penalty. Passing up edges just because you don't want to bust out also comes at a pretty high price.

This is a situation where you're going to find yourself crushed a good % of the time, and you'll remember those a lot longer than the times you called and he had T9s or 88 and he decided he could push you off your hand because he's a big stack. That doesn't make folding the right play.

Mike you must be an unbelievable player but us mere mortals have to take a few chances to get chips...in this hand I think we have to call and dodge AJish type junk

Never mind the shove, what hands open limp the CO with 100BB?

You say he has played tight and agressive, that would generally mean that he doesn't open limp often at all. The hands that a tight-aggressive player (of the decent type) are most likely to open limp the CO with are suited Aces, suited connectors, and 22-88. I think this type of player is usually open raising 99+ and 2 face card type hands.

Given his chipstack, I think he might be slightly more inclined to limp a big hand than if he had say a 10k stack. So this should be taken into account as well.

IMO he has 1 of 4 types of hand and each are pretty close to equally likely after discounting for how often he might shove each and how often he is dealt certain combos. If he is equally likely to have each: a big pair (like AA or KK), a small pair (22-88), a suited Ace (like As9s), or a suited connector (like 9s8s), then we have about 59% equity. We have 50% equity if you make AA and KK equal to half of his range (50% of the time he turns over AA or KK, and the rest of the time he turns over one of the other hands).
