come back safe & win 2008 WSOP....I think the opinions posted regarding Binions & Venetian are all good. Played 2007 WSOP, and Venetian deep stack 300/500's, and Rio cash while staying at Rio, so that was optimum for convenience. Had friends staying at Binions, sharing a 19.99 per nite room & like playing the Binions tourneys. Sorta expensive cab ride from Strip to downtown Binions ($20/each way). If 2008 WSOP is at Rio, recommend looking at Paris/Ballys/Harrahs strip rates. Regular free shuttle between those properties. Some talk of 2008 WSOP STT/mega sats spread across Harrahs props instead of just at Rio/main WSOP venue. If BR/budget constrained & you want to max the WSOP experience, double bunk with some buddies near some casino with connecting transportation to WSOP venues & play sats & cash, and rail the WSOP $50K HORSE to see all the name pros duke it out. Agree that the lower buy-in WSOP prelims are not a good deal compared to the Venetian deep stacks & the Binions are good BR extenders.

Ill take the prize for first 2008 WSOP any time [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Thanks all for the advice, has opened my eyes alot to other options out there. Like I said I have been to Vegas once and playing in many online as well as live MTTs but nothing like this, my Vegas trip was limited, but I plan to be going this time exclusivly for poker, I figure with about a 5k BR that I would like to at least double, I am not really looking for any cash games, for some reason thats my weak point, so I plan to play as many tourneys and satelittes as possible while trying to maintain a low cost room if possible unless I hit somewhere big. Thanks again, I still have to figure out how all the hotels work with getting cheap rates for playing in their tourneys, but should be easy enough when I get back to the states to research alot more. How far out should I be looking to reserve a room around WSOP time?

If you are staying any length of time, I'd highly recommend you:

1) Rent a car if you are flying in
2) Stay at an Extended stay hotel of some kind.

The rates are reasonable, and this hotel is only about 4 blocks away from the Rio. They've also renovated all their rooms in the last year (I stayed there about 2 or 3 yrs ago, and it was okay even then before they renovated).

They also have small kitchens in the room, so that might save you some money there as well.

Rates are based on how long you stay. The longer you stay, the cheaper per night it is.

WSOP will be at the Rio in 2008. Look for it to possibly more to a larger venue for 2009. Although WSOP Main Event registrations decreased significantly from the previous year, the $1,500 NL events are increasing, peaking at 3,000 registrations this year.

People will only take so much of "tent city" in the Amazon Jungle.

The schedule for the WSOP won't be announced for at least a few more months.

While the Venetian tournaments are a better value, the WSOP event have a lot more entrants. If you should happen to catch lightning in a bottle, the first prize will be a life-changing amount, over 700 grand last year in the first $1500 event.
