First of all, betting the turn here without the fd is obv really bad, there's just tons of pairs, 2-pairs, pairs+gs etc he can have. The board has hit his range hard.

Now how does the turned fd change the ev of betting? If our fe is low, betting the turn doesn't really have a high ev if we compare to checking, because checking is getting a shot at 13 outs in $159 pot is massively +ev.

Besides we're still likely to get paid off is we hit, so we have great implied odds. We don't risk getting raised, which will suck.

Cliff notes: When our fe is low with a draw ip, I think most fails to compare the ev of betting with the ev of checking.

im probably getting the jargon confused. I thought the EV of a check is 0, but our pot equity is around 28% or $45.

Yeah, both are $45 in this case. Checking win you $45 (immediate). Including implied odds the ev of checking is more.
