So, I'm new to TLDR, but is there a typical genre here? Would I get laughed at for suggesting something like "Lone Star?"

I'll agree with dom and say this is perfectly fine. Getting to see films that may be overlooked or may be found a bit further afield is what this is all about IMO

I also want to second 8 1/2. It's been about 16 months since I last saw it and this was one of those films that I knew when I first saw it that I needed to watch again to really get a feel for(especially after seeing a few more italian art films in that time span)

Finally rejoining, so I won't nominate. But I've been wanting to see Sex and Lucia for a while, so I'll 2nd that.

One of the great American movies my one of its greatest filmmakers? Of course you won't get laughed at.

Michael Haneke's The Piano Teacher. I'm sure this would cause some controversy.

I'll nominate Bubba Ho-Tep, which has an extraordinary subtext underneath what is on paper a cheesy and silly horror flick, but in fruition is anything but

('Frailty' and 'Ed Wood' were also contenders)

I feel I can offer no nominations because I don't know any fancy foreign films with cool sounding names. I will, however, cast a vote when the time comes.

This isn't just for fancy foreign films. Any film you really liked that most of us wouldn't have seen is good.

PLEASE! Nominate an interesting, entertaining, discussion worthy movie. We don't need fancy foreign films with cool sounding names. After all they are what killed the last incarnation of the DVD club. Not that the occassional foreign film is bad but they shouldn't dominate. I wish I woulda grabbed the reigns when I had a chance because it's gonna die a cruel death again I fear. It needs more structure and organization and the way it is now will end up the way it was when people just stopped discussing.
