Re: Countrywide

Is Countrywide too big to go bankrupt? (meaning someone or the govt would bail them out)

Re: Countrywide

Random Countrywide question: If they do happen to go bankrupt (certainly not saying that they will) what does that mean for people (like myself) that have a mortgage through them?

Re: Countrywide

They would just sell the mortgage and/or servicing whatever is left. There may be a good change FNMA already owns it and Countrywide is just servicing it.

Re: Countrywide

why would anyone bail countrywide out? insiders have sold off 72% of their posistions in the last year, they had to deal with 40 seperate banks just to secure 11 billion in emergency operating funds and their assets are completely toxic (60% of their declared assets are in california, nevada, florida and michigan, the four states hit hardest by the mortgage crisis). bailing them out would be pure charity, and the feds have shown no inclination to help out.

Re: Countrywide

Anyone have experience doing short sales though Countrywide? Is Countrywide willing to short-sell to investors at steeper discounts given their current position???

After reading your post, i looked to find that the stock was down 23% today..

Hmm, i thought, I'm gonna text my good friend who works at countrywide. The following text conversating ensued:

Me: LOL countrywide down 23 percent today ship the unemployment
Him: Already got layed off today
Me: WTF for real? Im a horses ass
Him: Yeah you are

I guess they unloaded 500 people from their home office in Cali, as well as 200+ here in Tampa in last few days..

Note to self: Make sure your friend isn't canned before making jokes about the viability of his company.

It's gonna get worse within the next year or so.

The amount of ARMs that are going to re-adjust with higher interest rates are going to be 3-4x the amount of ARMs re-adjusted this year and the last which caused the big fiasco this month.

That's my speculation from talking with a lot of real estate investors.
