An example of shaolin master

can this guy beat a big MMA fighter only with his skills and speed?

[/ QUOTE ]

Great link. The guy was really quick, but MMA is a different animal. I would be very interested to see that fight.

Meh, don't put the Shaolin fighter in an MMA fight. It would be way more fun to see him fight in his own way. No gloves, no grappling. I don't give a damn who wins in an MMA for or what's more practical, but you could see some really awesome fun fights with just pure striking no gloves, no stupid points like boxing, scoring like Pride.

Not to give a crappy answer, but it is all relative...

Fights normally go to the ground..So BJJ is normally the best for ending a fight quickly on the ground..

However..You dont wanna go for an arm bar and have someone friends kick you in the face..So maybe ending it quicker is better..

For standing Muay Thai or straight boxing might be best..

Course these arent great for weapons..So maybe Krav or Kali or something..

Honestly though..I would say Muay Thai and running. In most real life situations Ive been in, the keys are quickly hurting or otherwise getting away from attacker(s). Then getting as far away as possible..

combination of a number of different techniques. ground-fighting, joint manipulation, target areas on the body, weapons of opportunity, weapon disarmament, certain strikes. It's not as complex and "awesome" as people would think, considering it's taught to be effective when you're wearing a combat load.

Krav Maga, in its description, sounds badass but is mostly a type of exercise fad in America, unless you know someone who will make it more like how the Israelis teach it.

if you read some of bruce lee's old self defense books, they mainly consist of attacking the groin, throat, and eyes.
