lol @ yves coaching..

OK heres what u do, open 12 tables and play AK, AQ and JJ+. Sometimes play lower pairs to hit a set. If u hit a set get money in, otherwise fold.

Saved someone some money...

How much do they charge for coaching?

It's hard to believe there are an entire group of players who can beat mid stakes but want to be coaching... because they can make more hourly by playing.

[/ QUOTE ]
everybody is not about making money and coaching has no variance.

I understand that some get enjoyment out of teaching and I've have done coaching before. It just seems like it's probably not worth it for most people to do coaching.

As much as this is an economic question the utility derived from coaching must be considered. Instructors must feel great taking an ssnl player and shaping him into a msnl shark.

When I originally posted I thought this guy was just trying to promote his own site or something.

Re: 3-bet.net coaches

several years ago there was a poll (in the high stakes limit forum maybe?) asking how much of a reduction in winrate people would be willing to accept in order to entirely eliminate variance. As I recall there were a lot of people in the 50% range.

Combine that with factors like burnout (and related issues such as boredom and mental fatigue during long multitabling sessions) and it's not hard to see why people would be willing to coach for less than what they can make playing.

some people just dont want to play 10 hours a day of poker. some people just play 4, and would like to coach in the downtime.

it may be +$ev to play poker 10+ hours a day, but very few people want/can do it.

I coach a bit. $100/hr

Coaching is just fun and a change of pace. I'd rather play 20 hours a week of poker than coach 20 hours a week but as part of a mix it's cool. You can't really complain about earning $100/hr either.
