Fwiw, the ability to use an open api to write apps is basically proof that facebook is not myspace.

Exactly...btw, it looks like you can't use javascript in profile apps, so any sort of snazzy real time chat is kinda out......but, keep the ideas coming!

sounds a bit difficult, but listing the number of mutual friends you have with your existing friends.

pretty sick if you could do it for people you are not friends with (people have the option of displaying their friends list via "view friends" to strangers)

i was looking into this today and it shouldnt' be that difficult actually. I can query for the friends of a given person, so finding the intersection of two queries wouldn't be that bad...they don't already have something like this?

As for the second part, it'd be a little more difficult. I suppose I could harvest all of the friends for every account and then show a list of friends you share with others....

Anyone else like this? (thx yellowjack!)

As a bit of clarification I just want to say that I think most of the Facebook apps are pretty stupid. I swear to god if anyone every superpokes me I might not handle it well.

Evan,

I can imagine so...as I mentioned, I've never really used it much, kind of got hot after I got out of school....but your point is a great one--if most are stupid, then lets think of something cool. Maybe there just isn't one, but i'd bet thats not true...anyway, thx for the thoughts.

facebook pages are becoming ridiculously cluddered and unreadable in some cases, that is why it is becoming like myspace
