I love that club. Unfortunately my refund is only $7 because of me apparently being too good at planning my withholdings to minimize my interest free loan to the gubmint.

Not really relevant, but I did use public roads (though the experience has been hardly 'enjoyable') and I received no public education.

I never got how you could plan withholdings assuming you're smart enough to not volunteer extra withholdings. My dad suggested I claim 6 dependants once even though I'm single, but I don't really feel like lying on tax forms.

I'm going to get a $1500 refund this year but obv it would be better if they hadn't withheld that.

Simple, have income streams that taxes are not withheld on. For instance, buy and sell some stock. Then, instead of a refund, you get the joy of writing a check to the IRS four times a year.
