While I actually think Asante is worth more, there is no way that it's not close. Both players came off outstanding seasons, and did very well in the playoffs. If anything Briggs has been more consistent over the years.

Re: Lance Briggs to the Patriots?

I seriously doubt that the Bears would want Samuel even though I believe both Tillman and Vasher are free agents after this season b/c Samuel wants a big, long-term contract. CBs aren't considered as incredibly valuable in the Tampa 2 defense so the Bears are extremely unlikely to give a long-term contract to one, even one as good as Samuel. The only way this may work is through draft picks, although I don't know how much/many...

So what's Briggs issue with Chicago? It's because he wants a long term deal right?

that's his public claim, but that claim is BS. He just wants out of two and be with a club where he can be the big dawg on D instead of playing second fiddle to Urlacher. The bears offered him a 5 year 33m contract before last season and he turned it down. I highly doubt that if teh bears offered him a 6 year 45m contract that he would accept at this point. If the bears were to trade him, there'd have to be some serious draft pickage in there to make it work

He wants guaranteed money on top of being the big dog. He won't play now b/c he doesn't want to risk injury potentially screwing up a long term deal with huge up front money.
