I had a vaguely similar thing happen in Naples, Italy - having just returned from a trip to Florence we're in my friend's BMW waiting outside his aunt's house in the best part of town up on the hill, he's just called up for her to throw down the keys to the gate, when three scooters come round the corner driven by rough guys from the wrong part of town.

My friend sees them, says "Oh [censored]", starts the car, puts his foot on the gas and drives as far and as fast as he can. When he finally stops me and his latest American chick who's in the back say "What the [censored] was that?" and he says there had been a spate of gunpoint carjackings by hoodlums on scooters. It was more exhilarating rather than scary for me since I didn't know what was going on.

On an unrelated matter, a couple of years ago a new LAN house/cybercafe was opened in town, and I played counterstrike back then. So we played there for free because all the kids wanted to play where the best players were. One night we were playing when a whole gang enters the store each of them armed with pistols and revolvers, about 6 if i recall.

Me, my brother and several friends were held hostage for about 10 minutes as they cleaned out everything (computers, cash register, network equipmanet) They took all wallets, including mine, backpacks with PC gear, etc.

The interesting thing is that after they had gone away, someone shots "whose wallet is this?" I look and it's mine! with all credit cards, ID, money, etc. They had apparently dropped 1 wallet (out of about 30 people that were robbed) and it was mine.

A few months later another LANhouse was robbed by 3 guys (i was not there this time), and a policeman was there off-duty with his kids, and he managed to kill 1 of them.

Also interesting is that because everyone was wearing headphones and playing a game in wich you shout a lot and has violence, about 5 people didnt notice the store was being robbed, they thought it was part of the game. Only after the robbers slapped the kids in the face did they realise it was REAL and left their PCs
