Virtua Fighter is the best 3D fighting series ever, and it's not close....Tekken is nowhere near. Soul Calibur II is awesome, but if you give VF time, you'll realize how deep its combat is.

It's tough to compare VF and MvC, they are two VERY different games. VF is probably the deepest, the one that you feel like you could play for your whole life and not master, therefore it chalks up the win.

MvC is a little too button mashey for my liking to be considered as good as VF.

MvC (especially MvC2) is much more hardcore, though. People have gotten shot and lost their homes over matches. You just do not see that happen with VF players.

The hardest decision for me was the older SF series versus Guilty Gear. Pretty much the best 2D fighter of the 90s against the best current-day 2D fighter. GG is the more interesting game (I would hope!) but you need to be a [censored] robot to play that game well.
