EPT seems a lot better than the WPT

[/ QUOTE ]

not sure if you're referring to prizepool or structure, IIRC the Monte Carlo Event is the EPTs version of the WPTs Championship 25K event at Bellegio - i.e. larger buy in than typical EPT stops and larger starting stacks

EPT in 2007 is similar to what WPT and WSOP Circuit was in 2005: at the peak of popularity as TV products.

TV poker, like entertainment TV products, do reach maturity, and do so rather quickly.

What that said, I am very impressed with that the EPT has done in Monte Carlo. The "spaceship" look of the the convention hall where the EPT 3 Grand Final took place was surreal.

K-5 versus 7-4 on 2-3-4 flop, blank on turn, river king.

1.8 million euros for 1st, about 1 million euros for 2nd.

Second place finisher is Mark Karam (aka Myst, online poker MTT-er I believe).

I thought Karam was more of a cash player.

Here is an interview highstakesdb.com did with him

High Stakes DB - Myst

It says he plays 50/100 on Prima. On his blog he talks about not playing 100/200 or 200/400 again until he is bankrolled properly (i.e. $2 million) - this should help him out.

Pretty sick run in >$5,000 US tourneys. Played 6, final tabled in 4 (EPT Monte Carlo 2 years in a row, Aussie Millions 2007, WPT Niagara 2006)and cashed in 1 other (2006 PCA - 37th). Only event he didn't cash in was 2006 main event at WSOP

Re: Gavin Griffin takes down EPT Monte Carlo

Gavin's demeanor has always impressed me more than just about any young pros who I have observed on tv or in broadcasts. He never loses his composure, doesn't celebrate when he wins a pot, and doesn't bemoan his fate when he loses a big pot. I try to emulate this calm, results-distanced perspective when I play in the big cash games in NYC and elsewhere. I really admire him and it's a shame that players who have calm, even-keeled temperments do not get the recognition they deserve.

That said, wasn't there a thread on neverwinpoker about him showing his family jewels to a "chick" and getting scammed out of pokerstars $?
