Interesting.. does the model of the one you put with a picture put less strain on your hand muscles?

I have this mouse and like it, but I don't really use it anymore because its kind of bulky for quick motion and precise clicking while multitabling. It might be perfect for OP's problem though.

My current mouse, and personal favorite, is:

I don't really know because I haven't had the problems you've had, but I find it to be comfortable.

However, I think the verticalmouse is probably a better bet for you, since its basically designed to reduce hand strain. I bought it because my friend Ike told me that he was having problems with carpal tunnel, and that it eased them up.

I also use a keyboard bench on my right to support my mouse, which I find to be more comfortable. This is pretty uncommon though.

The Logitech trackball put an end to the soreness I was developing in my wrist and hand.

I use and recommend the Evoluent Vertical Mouse 2. I used to get pain in my wrist from using the mouse a lot and I get none of it now. I'll echo an earlier reply that it's not great for quick precision, but for normal everyday use, it's great.

I've had problems as well (with wrist, hand, elbow and shoulder). I can't tell the best to pick, but the small ones aren't good (at least for me).
