Card clubs in San Diego:

Village club if you don't mind walking a 1/2 mile from the H street exit to the club.

[/ QUOTE ]

I do not recommend making that walk in that area.

Hey all, thanks! This is great info. With luck I'll return from my conference with money in my pocket and a good story.

Here's kb09pkt's response mentioned above:
" The closest poker room to Harbor Island would probably be Village Club in Chula Vista. From Harbor Island it would probably take about 15 minutes to get there. Their number is (619) 425-3333. I have not played there in a while, but last time I played they let you call ahead to put your name on the list. It is a card room, not casino and doesn't have many tables. If you're going to go, definitly call ahead. I read your post on B&M and saw that you don't have a rental car, but if you can get there, Oceans 11 if by far the best place to play in San Diego. They have tons of tables and good action. I almost play there exclusively.

Besides Village Club, the next 2 closest places would be Lucky Lady and Palomar Club. Both of these are also card clubs with only a few tables, so call ahead and put your name on the list. Of those two rooms Palomar Club is definitly the better for action. It is full of crazy LAGS. Be careful of the big NL game at Palomar. They have a no cap buy in NL game there, sometimes with up to $100k on the table. I have heard some shady things about that game with cheating. I have never seen it first hand, but heard from others that game might not be totally legit. I'm not sure if you are looking to play that big or not, but be careful if you do.

There are also about 15 other Indian casinos in San Diego, but they are out in the boonies, but they do offer shuttle service from downtown and probably harbor island (ask the concierge desks about shuttle service to them) If you can get a shuttle out to them, I would recommend Sycuan, Barona, or Viejas, in that order. They all have decent card rooms. I would recommend Sycuan out of those 3, good action, and about 30 tables, so you don't have to wait long.

The other indian casinos besides those 3 are Harrah's Rincon, Golden Accorn, Pauma, Pechanga, and a few more that are slipping my mind right now. Besides Pechanga, they all suck. "

Thanks again kb!

Hope this helps the others!

Rincon doesn't suck if you like money. Just like Vegas, lots of fish.

Thanks for this info... based on this and all the other info, and the fact that I will be at the San Diego Convention Center most of the time, I will be checking out Palomar. I will definitely call ahead for the list.

As for the stakes, I figure to be pretty tired from the conference, so I figured I would just stick to something like 3/6 or 4/8 and minimize the cost of any mental error I might make. I mostly just want to check out a new poker room, because it's fun.
