Dude from a realty company my parents work with got caught in a Dateline-like child porn sting.

He didn't tell anyone about it but kept taking vacation days (which everyone soon learned wss for court appearances). Then he didn't show up for work for a while. He was found in a seedy motel where he had put a bullet in his head.

What constitutes child porn, by the way? Say an 18 year-old is dating a 17 year-old, and she sends him some racy photos of herself naked. Because he now possesses naked pics of a minor, is he engaging in child pornography? If he takes the pictures of her, is that kiddie porn? But he could be like 5 months older than her... I dunno, maybe it's 13 or younger?

[/ QUOTE ]

I know in NJ there has to be a 4 year age difference for it to be unlawful.

I believe that's for sex. For posessing images it doesn't matter the age difference, the images are illegal if the person is under 18.

I love that charges like "sodomy with a person under 18" on top of all the other things that aren't legal about a 34 year old nailing somebody under 18.

story here

A Lafayette man was jailed Wednesday on a child pornography charge. 20-year-old Nicholas Baudoin was arrested by university police on ten counts of pornography involving a juvenile.

According to UL Lafayette, the university received an anonymous tip about Baudoin.

Campus police did an investigation, got a warrant and arrested him at his off-campus apartment.

The investigation is on-going and will likely be turned over to the district attorney's office soon.

Did you get to see any of the good stuff?

Also, speaking of crimes, whatever happened with the person found dead in your pool?

Well, in Louisiana, 17 is legal.

Plus, there's a qualifier - they have to be erotic in nature. I believe just naked pictures aren't covered. So, like, pictures of a 6 year old girl in the bath tub aren't considered pornography.

It is forbidden to knowingly produce, distribute, receive, or possess with the intent to distribute, a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing, cartoon, sculpture, or painting, that

* depicts a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and is obscene, or

* depicts an image that is, or appears to be, of a minor engaging in graphic bestiality, sadistic or masochistic abuse, or sexual intercourse, including genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal, whether between persons of the same or opposite sex, and such depiction lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

This is likely hardcore stuff.

I believe the "dead guy in my pool" was ruled accidental drowning, but the mom of the guy was pushing for a murder investigation of his friend.

i would love to sit in on the legislators discussing these laws and drafting up the legal stuff. all these 50 year old lawyers and congressmen sitting around a document...
"do we want to use 'foreign object'?"
"whats that word that covers anal stuff and regular stuff... 'sodomizing'--that's it."
"so is a finger in the butthole illegal, too? we need to make this thing iron-clad."

He wasn't a friend (pretty much all of us in HS considered him most likely to shoot up the school -- in a rural town of ~2k, there aren't a lot of candidate, but he was one for sure), but I was on the cross country team with him for 3 years or so and he was in my graduating class. Heard a couple years back that he got arrested here in Madison along with another guy for going through one of the grad student resident areas (primarily Asian and other minority students), pounding on doors, making threats, yelling racial slurs. He was apparently big into white pride stuff.

Not surprising, since I always figured he was batshit crazy.

Oh, and a girl from my graduating class in HS did a pretty good one. She and I were never really friends but we were at least semi-nice to one another, she got into a fair amount of trouble in HS, all standard slacker stuff. Couple years later, she faked that she had cancer, got the town and the hospital she worked for here in Madison to raise about $24k, then took off to Texas for "treatment."
