There was nothing wrong with going for a c/r on the flop. Hell, if you whiffed, you might even go for one again on a non-heart, non-3 turn!

But I'm pretty sure you made a mistake by folding the turn. The pot was starting to get big (5.5 BB?) and you still have 4 outs to if behind. And I don't think you're behind all that often since many good players will bet a pair of 3s in that spot (unraised pot, K83 flop, etc).

Bet the flop. I understand your metagame points, but I'd save your c/r for times when protecting your hand is more important. If the board was K87 instead of K83, or if you didn't have the K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], or if the pot was bigger (i.e. better pot odds for callers) then taking on the risk of the c/r would be more appropriate.

The better he is the more apt. I am to 3-bet or call down, the worse he is the more apt to call down or make a huge laydown, but probably call down.

It's live--a worse hand usually checks behind on the river, particularly if its even remotely scary.

The reason I bet this flop is to three bet it when someone raises with a flush draw or a king. On the turn I believe it is a call down, bc it is just as likely for him to have a king, an eight, or raising you thinking u have nothing
