Great post. Now how about another L1 "whether or not to raise AK out of the blinds" post. Seriously... thats also fun to revisit.

Hmmn. One issue hasn't been addressed the concept of other set mining you.

Often when making a decent raise out of the BB/SB people will give you credit for a big pair, and proceed to fold the 22-77/88. I played a hand AQ about 2 days ago in a 16 on stars where I played it pretty much how you advocate and the following scenario came up.

MP: limps for 20
Hero: (SB) calls 10 with AQ
BB: Checks

flop: A 7 4

Hero: Checks
SB: Leads 60
MP: Calls 60
Hero: Calls 60

Turn: Q

Hero: Leads for 180
SB: Folds
MP: raises to 480
Hero: all-in for a total of 1480.
Mp: Calls

Whilst I strongly hated the thought of a set. I gave him A4/A7 a significant time as part of his range. He called and showed me two 4's and I was out.

In this instance I was wondering how do you guys get away from this hand at these stakes or do you stick it in. Maybe I should have created a new post but a thread on AQ was already here.

Apologies if leads to a hijack.

In my experience nobody ever folds small pairs to a raise.

But is there anyway to protect against the set mine and does anybody fold this?

Not really, but you lose to sets so infrequently that you don't even really need to worry about it, if you connect with the board you can almost always get your stack in.
