FWIW, it appears that the Horseshoe (which uses the Country Inn across the street) and the Harrahs properties still have rooms available during those above dates.

Can't say how long those rooms will still be available, so I went ahead and booked mine now (as you can always cancel them later if you don't go).

I do know BTW, for a fact, that they have shuttles from the airport to both Harrahs properties, as well as the hotels in question in the area (they normally have a few other hotels they have deals with, like the Hilton Downtown Omaha as well).

BTW, one point of concern here for those who are traveling to this from out of town/state (like I would be).

Traditionally stuff like this gets sold out in advance by the locals at this casino. This casino has not yet to date allowed for pre-registration either.

You have to physically be there in order to register.

I'm giving this one second thoughts now, simply because of this fact. I'd hate to pay for airfare, and a hotel room, then arrive there and be told that its sold out (especially since (unlike places like tunica) it's the only casino in the area, that has a poker room).

I just spoke with someone in their poker room, and she confirmed that as of now, you have to be physically present in order to register for the events.

I asked her to consider doing like the WSOP does in Vegas, and allow people to phone in their registrations, and then be allowed to wire their money to the cage.

She said she'd pass it along so that they could see if they could get IGC approval to do so.

Somehow though, based on my previous experiences with this casino, I doubt that will happen, or that they will even approach the IGC about it.

I doubt it will be sold out, just a guess and no knowledge whatsoever outside of playing the circuit events last year. Im only a 3 hr drive away though and plan on playing the 1K and 2.5K. gl all

I also doubt it will sell out as I expect turnout similar to WSOPC event last year, many steats to spare there

I just wish they'd change their policy though (or move this event to Ceasars Indiana), to where you could pre-register in advance, and wire the money to the cage.

Heck, at Ceasars Indiana, you can even pay via credit card (or at least in the past you could, I can't say for sure now) and register over the phone that way, for your entry.

As for me, it's an 8hr drive away each way from Denver.

I can understand why you can't pay via credit card in Iowa, but they should at least allow people to pre-register via the phone and wire their money to the cage from the bank.

I for one don't want to spend money for travel expenses and then get there and have no seat open for me to be able to play.

I for sure don't want to have to go there twice, just so I can pre-register in person.

It would be different if they were running Sats to their ME on Saturdays, but nope, they have to run those on Fridays, when it only favors the locals (unless I were to take time off of work, which I can't because I've already used up all my time off this year. Thus, I'm relegated to weekend events now, where I can fly in on a Friday night, play a Saturday and Sunday, then fly back late Sunday or first thing Monday morning.).

At least then, it would be worth my while to drive down there one weekend in September to give it a shot (if they had a SAT into the ME on a Saturday that is).

Gawd I sure miss living close to Ceasars Indiana, that's for sure!

What would the refund policy be for pre registration over the phone. I have tried that and it was a nightmare. We has a lot of no shows for the pre registration, and many empty seats, with hundreds of people who made the trip waiting to play, only to see empty seats on the floor.

Simply put, there would be no refund, unless perhaps you where there to collect it in person. In other words, there is a price to be paid for the priviledge of being able to pre-pay in advance via the phone (one I would be willing to pay myself).

People would need to be sure they were going, before they registered, otherwise the money would be lost to the prize pool if they didn't show.

They'd simply be blinded off until there were no more chips left in their stack.

In your case Johnny, while I'm not sure about how it work across state lines, perhaps one option would be to allow the person to play the following year at another WPT event at the same location.

Has the WPT ever thought of selling seats via gift certificates or something, to their events, that could be used at any WPT event, or is that something that is a no no for most Gaming commissions?

ya, I think the pre-registration process is generally primitive...no expensive technology barriers, so, I assume it is laziness & state gaming compliance related, more weighted to laziness probably...the customer service attitude of tournament organizers ranks somewhere down around cable companies, imho

I have played in only one tournament where you could go to a website, pre-register with a credit card, and print out an encrypted bar coded, non-reproduceable e-ticket.

I will say this, in my past experience, I've found that most of the tourneys at Ceasars Indiana you can pre-register over the phone and pay with a credit card.
