Sorry. My point was that it didn't sound as if you and your friend were commenting on this "specific" event when you were talking about "odds would be that we would ever see that happen again". Your question evolved from a very specific question to a much more general question. You stated that "my friend and I have different beliefs in the odds" -- but to which question? If it's simply back-to-back extremely bad beats, you have to look at how many combinations there are before you look at it as a highly unusual event. When you define a highly unusual event a little more broadly than a specific event, the frequency of highly unusual events is quite high.
