Against the player described:

this hand is against a guy who generally plays bad, but can be spazzy when he tilts and overplay his hands blaming most of it on coolers etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that the turn raise is a fine value raise. Most people will go for the check/raise here with turned trips. JJ is well ahead of Villain's range.

i suppose against a stone idiot it is a raise, because he is not clever enough to 3bet here knowing that you don't have a 9 in your hand, and thus cannot outplay you. that said, if i'm gonna raise here, it's on the river. if he does indeed have a 9, i want to see that river card and give myself a chance to bang a jack.

What is his range after the turn action?

Bob and BK, are you guys betting river as well as played?

My analysis of the hand:
[ QUOTE ]
he raises UTG+1, i 3-town JJ, we take the flop HU.

[/ QUOTE ]

He has some sort of a hand, however his range is probably still huge given the read. I would say QJ+, KJ+, 56s+, 22+, Axs, possibly A8+.

[ QUOTE ]
flop 8,9, 3 rainbow he bets, i raise, he 3- bets i call.

[/ QUOTE ]
When he bets I put him on a pair or a draw. When he 3bets I think he doesn't want me to have a free card on the turn so he keeps betting. His range is now 44+, 9x, 8x, 3x but he raised pf so it's more tilted towards pocket pairs, A9, Ax suited (x=9, 8 or 3), 78s, 89s, 34s, 9Ts, 98s...

[ QUOTE ]
turn 9 he bets, i raise he calls

[/ QUOTE ]
As an aside, I now see why people don't raise this turn. If my range is correct, he's either go us jacked with three 9s, an over pair, or he's drawing to 2 outs (or 5 outs if he a pair and an over card). So it's likely a WA/WB.

Once we raise this turn and he just calls it is very unlikely that he has a 9. Either we just froze his over pair or he he is drawing really thin. His range 44+ (probably excluding TT+ because he overplays his hands), Ax suited (x=8 or 3), 78s, 34s, but mostly pocket pairs I would think.

[ QUOTE ]
river A, he hesitates and checks.. i bet for value and he calls and mucks when i say my hand

[/ QUOTE ]

So I certainly would have raised the turn and bet this river before doing this analysis, but I think it's now closer than I realized. However I'm still leaning towards pp calling down so I bet and hope.

For those that do just call the turn, what rivers are you raising?

live players at foxwoods like to donk the turn with j-10 alot in this spot, or some draw/crap, id raise the turn and bet basically any river.

Do you play the flop the same? I'd much prefer to 4-bet the flop as a way to insure the appropriate action goes in for this hand.
