Dont get the Westy. They are alright, "some people that used to work for Samsung actualy started the company and licenced the name"

The the Samsung its in your price range.

Also the Sony is nice, but I do not like the picture quit as much.

Dont listen to all the haters on this forum who cant afford a tv. All i know is I recently got the 46 1080p lcd samsung for like 2200 but when i was at best buy and looking at plasmas like 40+ range they are very inexpensive easily in the 1k-1500 range so if thats all you got look plasma

Get the Vizio 47" 1080p LCD at Costco. $1500.

Still there. 720p. I wouldn't buy a 720p TV. Plasma also suffers from a lot of glare if you have ambient light in the room or a window behind the person viewing the TV.

Plasma is best for bedrooms - watching TV at night, hang it on your wall so you don't have to have an extra piece of furniture, etc.

DLP is cheaper, but doesn't have the balla status of a flat panel.

costco also has a 52" that is supposed to be really good (though not as good as the Samsungs that cost twice as much)

If you want Balla and the best stuff around, look no further than Pioneer. They've just realeased their 8th generation of Plasma TV's (Kuro's) that simply blow everything else away.

And 1000-1500 price is laughable, that's a balla price for a pair of shoes maybe, not a big screen tv.

I'd suggest the 50" 1080p 5010 for now.
