I'd def. stay away from that one. I was all over the Rams last year but felt lucky after all the turnovers. The previous year, well Miami at their place in September is historically tough last yr not withstanding.

Naj don't let that "Limited Participation" for Brady fool you. He's been listed as "Probable, shoulder" every week for as long as I can remember.

He's missed 2 days of practice this week, and that's never happened before. I know Belicheck's idea of the injury report, trust me. Missing the practice is a whole diff story.

Seymour and Harrison are huge losses. Laying 7 on the road?

Do the Broncos ever cover as an opening day road favorite? Last year's loss in St. Louis was a joke, and they're -3 or worse in Buffalo. Anyone taking the Bills?

2006 3.5 point fav, lost 10-18
2005 5 point fav, lost Dolphins 10-34
2003 6 point fav, beat Bengals 30-13, covered
1993 1.5 point fav, beat Jets 26-20, covered
1990 1.5 point fav, lost Raiders 9-14
1985 1 point fav, lost Rams 16-20

so i guess 2-4, i only got data from 1984 on tho

note: the only problem pats had was a weak receiving core. if you say anything about rodney harrison you should know that the pats d isnt going to be hurting from it. yes rodney contributes but no it wont have that big of an outcome. ...t there is a very high possiblilty that the jets get killed week 1

[/ QUOTE ]

What happened in the 2nd half of the Pats last game...I can't remember, did their D give up any points?

looks like Broncos are only 1 for 3 under Shannahan as opening day road chalk. Shanny's only cover was vs. Bengals, who were still a total joke in 2003.

wasn't 03 a breakout year for the bengals? they only won 2 games the year before and went 8-8 then beating some really good teams (ravens, 13-3 chiefs, seahawks)

The "Lawyer Milloy game". Sam Adams ftw. Miami lost to Houston too...
Best opening day ever.

You are correct. 2003 was Cincy's breakout year. Just verified this at goldsheet.com amidst the hundreds of "phishing" warnings from my anti-virus...

I literally lol'd when I saw this line on Monday. Let's put this in perspective: if we were to pretend this game was being played at NE and properly adjusted the line, the Pats would be 12.5 point favorites!

And the pats most important defensive player, Seymour, is out. Harrison is out too. And for all the bsp's crying "but the pats got Moss!" -- how many full practices has he gone through the last month?

Can the pats win this game and cover? Absolutely - it's the nfl. But they should be favored by 2.5/3 points max (and that's assuming Brady is 100% and fully prepared to go), which means this line is at least 3.5 points off (I got +6.5).

Excellent value here on the Jets.
