What this guy said. Capping fourth and folding fifth don't make any sense.

Re: Stud8 Aces up fold

I totally buy capping Fourth. The Jacks could be trying to get value from multiple low draws, and Hero is way way ahead of all hands with a Jack in them except one.

When the Jack leads Fifth into what could be two made lows or a low and Aces+ (asking to get raised in other words), that narrows his hand range down to that one hand hero isn't beating.

I have no beef with the cap on Four, and I think the fold on Five is, like, the kind of poker I aspire to.

Does that sequence really make you that much more confident that the other guy is rolled? When he three-bets on fourth, it either means trips or brain damage. The cap followed by the lead on fifth doesn't really change that. If you're going to fold to the bet on fifth--and I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't--you should fold to the three-bet on fourth.

IMO the 4th Street action gives away seat 8's hand to one thing. If he doesn't have rolled Jacks, then he:

o called a completion from an Ace which were totally live on 3rd with JJx
o bet into someone showing strength with an Ace and another low draw who just caught an Ace, and then 3-bets with JJAx

Are they that aggressive at 30/60? Granted I dump my big pairs at the drop of a hat, but this seems suicidal to do so without having JJJ and which is why I would slow down on 4th.

He had rolled jacks. The other guy had a made 8 on 5th.

I think once three bets go in the cap makes some sense. But it's obvious from his lead villain isn't afraid to get into a jammed pot on fourth, and I think it's a bad idea to give him what he wants.
