I loved this when I saw it in high school. I saw it a couple times in the theater and right after on cable, and I honestly don't think I've seen it since. Very curious to see how it's held up.

I'm in two minds about Brazil. I used to love it.

I got the special Criterion edition with the released and director's cut. I watched both...and frankly preferred the original release. The longer cut was less coherent and fun.

It's a great movie, well worth the time, and many consider it Gilliam's masterpiece.

But my vote would be Time Bandits or more likely 12 Monkeys, which I'd say is Gilliam's best to date (unless you consider Life of Brian and Holy Grail )

I'm surprised you chose those movies over Baron Munchausen, which IMHO is closly the second best Gilliam movie (with Brazil begin #1 of course). The only problem with it is Robin Williams, I wish he wasn't in the movie.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I thought it sucked. I think it is one of those movies that is so abstruse that people assume it must have some profound meaning when it is really just nonsensical. I bet if you got a big-name director to make a movie of some guy taking a dump for 3 hours some people would probably praise that movie too. And this is coming from someone who liked 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I completely agree. But I will also readily admit that it's been quite a while since I saw this movie last, so I suppose I should watch it again. All I know is that I saw it once when I was in high school, and didn't care much for it, and then I watched it again in college (5 years ago), and didnt' care for it much then either. So I guess this weekend I may give it a viewing.
