...at the Wynn, the $20 trick is known as the "$100 trick."

This is a reason that I asked whether anyone here has had any success with the $20 Trick at the Wynn. According to the site linked above, the trick was very successful at the Wynn for only $20. However, it seemed to just get a higher floor with a better view. Maybe it takes more to get a really bigger room. However, the regular room at the Wynn may be the nicest non-suite hotel room in which I have ever stayed.

A $20 tip is a thing of the past in Vegas.. Inflation combined with competition from ballas has made a standard "hook you up fat" tip $100.

I used it 2 weeks ago ($50) and asked for a corner room with the floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides. It worked and has in the past also. Definitely worth the try and will work as long as they are not heavily booked. I usually go Tuesday or Wednesday through Saturday, so it is a tad lighter.

Would booking through the poker room have any effect on the $20?

Anyone have experience.

Looking through a bunch of the threads at FDT, it seems that it doesn't really matter so much how the room was booked (Priceline, poker, complete comp, online, package). If there is a room available, your chances are somewhere between 25-80%. Sure, you'll get the occasional host that will say "we can't do that for X instance" but...

I don't see how you could not just try it and just get over any potential rejection "pain."

FWIW, I tried this last month. Unfortunately, I got a fairly new kid (it seemed), and after saying he had upgrades, we ended up in a regular room (and he still had my cash). Oh well.

This is incorrect. One of my friends tipped only $20 at Caesars and got this room for 5 nights back in August:

That's an $800+/night room for $150/night, for only a $20 tip at check-in.

Though you may have better luck with more at the Wynn...

I got my parents a room at the Wynn. When I checked in, I gave the lady a $100 tip and I got upgraded to a Tower Suite, it was sick. I would recommend $100 tip at Wynn.
