on a different note, when the hell is kellen clemens gonna play an all around good 4 quarters of football? i know its perfectly plausible that he could suck this year and do miles better next year entering as the starter but if he doesnt play well against miamis 3rd string secondary ill be a little worried...even if coles doesnt play

samuel is costly and puts a lot of money in CB, which i actually don't mind, just saying...

our problem is that we couldn't stop random people from suiting up and running over us, so i would target the run D...

also, while we may have a lot of cap space now, we have a lot of solid peices that we may want to lock up, i hope that goes into the thinking when deciding how much to spend this offseason...

Suigin,

Your concern is valid (about saving money to lock up our younger players), but the Jets have more cap space than all but 2 or 3 teams. I would hope that there is more than enough money to go around.

Run defense is also an issue. It's just that run stuffing players that fit the 3-4 are hard to come by (both in the draft and FA). I'm hoping Harris is going to be a big help in this area next season.

OK I agree with the "don't draft a RB" thing that's been going on here, I just got caught up in having a duo of McFadden-Washington. Chris Long + Samuel + Faneca is the perfect offseason for us...which means that it won't go down this way.

the duo of jones and washington can def be legit, its just without a good downfield passing game teams are just sitting on routes and jamming the line of scrimmage. also adrien clark is garbage

also some people in the steelers thread seem to think faneca is over the hill, not to mention hes a steeler = scum of the earth

My bad. I thought Faneca was like 28, but he's actually about to turn 31 next week. Those Steelers fans might be somewhat correct. He's likely to decline big-time soon, if not showing signs already. Blah.

I really want to replace our LG in the offseason, which is why I originally threw Faneca's name out there. Just not sure what other Guards are available.

In the Jets 3-4 scheme, Vilma might be better off at SS than OLB. He's such a 4-3 MLB.

I don't get to see Vilma play that often but IIRC, a big problem with the move to the 3-4 was that he couldn't really beat lineman all that well and had a tendency to get overpowered. I don't see how moving him outside would help that, as he would now be expected to beat OT on a regular basis.

Also, when did Matt Ryan become a better QB prospect than Brohm/Woodson or even Ainge? I haven't watched that much college football this year but is he really considered a "franchise" QB?

Faneca will likely join the Cards. No way the Jets use another top pick on an olineman. It'll be Long, if they can't move down. Maybe Laurnettatisiaits.
