Guys, don't forget that your penis size will increase its z-score by one. [/ QUOTE ] Ahhhhh, the real reason thai girls dig farang. Edit: By the way, I like the way you phrased that. |

Beats, Your contributions in this thread have been awesome, thanks man. That place is called Sin Bar now, my favorite pool hall in all of Bangkok (the one on Soi Nana). [/ QUOTE ] No problem man! This thread is nothing but fun. Oh, the pool hall (ball in hand) is the second floor. Sin Bar opened a year or two after and is the top floor. Sin bar is pretty sweet. Good late night spot. Sin Bar has a few tables up there too. Here is a blurry picture of the Ball in Hand Pool hall from the stairs going up to Sin Bar. http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/5...1664imgfu6.jpg |

[ QUOTE ] Great picture. What are your other favorite spots in bangkok [/ QUOTE ] Ever go to the horseraces? There are 2 tracks, Royal Bangkok Sports Club and Royal Turf Club. Cabbies always know which one the races are that week. Pretty sure it alternates every Saturday. Might be at one of them on Saturday and the other on Sunday. The races are pretty certainly fixed but I always enjoyed going in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. In Chaing Mai, the best place to have kanoom jeeb was the track. Mmmmmm. KJS [/ QUOTE ] I live right across from the Royal Bangkok Sports Club right by the Rachadamri BTS station, but I haven't been in there to see the races. I was more of a pool hall junkie. I wanted to play on that golf course in there too, but it is private! Another place I like is lounging in the plush Gold Class Theater at EGV Cinema. Remote control massive recliner, pillows, ahhh.... http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/1804/img0081fo4.jpg |

ya i knew what you meant, i just always thought that was sin bar. i've logged long hours in that place. [/ QUOTE ] hehe, i practically lived in there when i first moved to bkk. we called it the "office" My friend would be like "see you down at the office around 4?" The newer Ball in Hand in the Times Square building near Asok BTS is pretty cool too, but i still like the vibe of the original better. it was also more fun walking up and down soi nana all the time. |

I lived in Royal Regant building on soi mahadlek 1. Beautiful view facing the horse track and the business district. |

Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
Nope never took one home or had any sex with any.
Did party with some one night after a Da Jim (Thai rapper) concert in Chiang Mai. They were all cooking up Special K in the kitchen and tripping like crazy. Pretty fun night. KJS |
Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand

Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
I have lived in Jomthien (near Pattaya) for about 4 months and love it here. For you players in Thailand, how do you think the U.S. law will affect the games? I had been using my U.S. bank account for the transactions, but now I guess I will open an account in Malaysia or Singapore.

Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
This question is for any of the thai experienced. With the thai people making like $500 a year, there must be times when you make $5000 in 15 minutes playing online that you feel like making your girl or some random thais day and dropping a years salary on them as a tip. From people who have visited thailand ,I know this is very frowned upon, but have never gotten an adequate explanation as to why.I imagine that it would have something to do with throwing off the whole balance, and generally over time, making it more expensive for anyone visiting. Is this the reason, and if not,why is it frowned upon? And have you ever done it anyways?I know I would really struggle making 20K on a good night and knowing someone I like is struggling on $500 a year.By the way I am not trying to sound overly generous but can occasionally do something nice for someone besides myself(rarely)

Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
So yeah about that thing thats goin on right now with poker and stuff yikes.
Any idea about the banking situation in Laos, Malaysia, etc? Links? My searches have been useless, then again I have performed exactly zero sober actions in four days. It hurts, it hurts so bad |
Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand

Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand

Can you drive with your normal U.S. drivers lic? Motorcycles too? Are scooters/motorcycles common or feasible there? What about auto or motorcycle insurance? What about owning auto or motorcycles? Thanks a lot for all of the information! Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
"you gotta be f'n crazy to bank in SE asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos et al)."
Why? With the Gov't change do you think there is a chance they would confiscate the funds? Or is it something else? I am a U.S. citizen (unfortunately) but I married a Thai woman and bought a condo here in my name and I keep a large amount in the bank so I could get the 1 year non-immigrant visa. How safe is the Siam Commercial Bank in your opinion? |

Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
I just received my non-immigrant visa 2 days ago so I guess I could pull the money out until a month or two before I need to renew it.
My wife has family in Singapore so I'm going to look into opening a bank account there to be able to keep playing. |
Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
Did anyone in this thread mention how hot it is when a uni student rides on the back of a motorcycle yet?
cause if not let me be the first |
Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
kik,
if you r married, all u need is 400k baht in the bank. |
Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
I think that 10k is the minimum, but since we have a daughter and no verifiable source of income she thought it would be a good idea to show more.

Re: Ask Degen Anything About Living In Thailand
ok ive missed out on this thread but ill try and post some thoughts as i read. the hospitals are quite good in thailand (i mean did you see those ladyboys?!), but particularly in BKK...if its anything serious i would go there or to one in chaing mai, but for anything save a triple bypass the hospitals are clean and safe.
i too have never had a problem with rats, though cockroaches do come round. not any more often then they do in australia though. ants would probably be the most annoying thing. you can buy any groceries you need in bkk, and most of the other bigger cities, though it may take some looking around/asking expats to find the quality places. infact the only place i wasnt able to get some of the stuff i needed when i was there last year was in hua hin/cha am, but even that changed *they opened a new supermarket as i was leaving* -pug |
