I really loled at one of Antonio's lines this week.

Something like...
"Mike Sexton...the legend, the myth, you can even reach over and touch him (pokes)"

I was so praying for that 8 on the river. Finally Jamie insta-checks his flopped monster into a backdoor outdraw. He really is terrible. Also, shame on Matusow for chip dumping to Gold with 8 high.

Matusow didn't bet enough on the river and Gold said as much afterwards (the "if you reach for the cash, I'm gone" line).

On the director's cut, Gold said he wasn't happy with the way he played the trip queens hand on the river. Um, what about the flop and turn? Although at least he's willing to admit he made a mistake, something I've seen progress over his PAD appearances.

Also, I did LOL when he admitted that part of his reasoning for goading Boston into that call with the "King high" bit was that he was just tired of dealing with him.

I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] how JG said that he made a mistake not shoving the river on the trip queens hand because he could have bluffed the bottom end of the straight out.

Yes... because Mike Sexton is never calling with a hand Jamie can beat

its a bad push for a lot of reasons.

1) If Sexton missed a draw and is bluffing river you're not going to make any more by raising

2) River completed 98 straight and backdoor flush, so T5 is pretty vulnerable

3) if Sexton had J he'd likely CR flop, and on river theres a lot his J can't beat and is pretty unlikely to call a push

best play was to just call, and if your beat you still have 27k at 1500-3000 blinds which is enough to work with...

JD, how about offer a legitimate counter? Like this:

1) Well, that's obvious.

2) Of course it is, relatively. But it's also relatively very strong in the situation, giving stacks/blinds. Against random holdings, its strength is 88% equity - I'd say that's very strong in any circumstance.

3) Now this is the major flaw in your logic. You're not aware of how light Sexton would actually call off his chips, especially against Gold. Also, to assume that Sexton has to CR or bet out with top pair is absurd. Gold's all-in is only 4x the pot sized bet from Sexton. And although Sexton would be stacking off here, I believe there's a very good chance he's calling with: J/8, J/9, J/10, Q/J, K/J, A/J, and of course with 5/2, 5/3, 5/4, 6/5, 9/5. Now of course he's calling with many hands that are ahead, but combining all the likelihoods, added with how important it is to value raise - this looks like a very good spot to get it in, especially in this format and with those blinds.

4) No, calling and leaving yourself with that stack with those blinds is not enough to work with, especially considering your opponent would then have a more than 3-to-1 chip lead on you. You will now be relying 100% on luck to get back in it, which is never what any poker player wants to do.

If you don't get your stack in with trips HU with quickly escalating blinds, you're a fool.
