Sorry for all the missing letters in my posts. It's the key board on my laptop that sucks. Really annoying when I try to enter the codes to my bank. Anyway it does some cover up for my horrible spelling.

Jesus, I just realized Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Stupid calendar. I always just assume it's closer to the 28th or something.

At any rate, last year I declared the fourth weekend in November the Micros Play Live Weekend, and nobody cared. Undeterred, I'm calling this the 2nd Annual Micros Play Live Weekend.

I'm definitely going to be at Four Winds on Sunday the 25th. Menace, Shaftoe, you down?

[/ QUOTE ]

It usually is later, but it's really early because Nov. 1 was a Thursday.

I may delay the 2nd Annual Micros Play Live Weekend by one week since I will be at home in PA and not close to AC. If my cousins and stepbrother were going to be around, we could play and I could contribute to the donking.

i was actually surprised that sangakara was going for it too. guess he wanted to get to his double before they were all out.

lee totally deserves man of series, but maybe sangakara for man of match after two big innnings in a side getting raped.

on other cricket news... rip darren "boof" leehman. best player to never hold a permanent spot in the aussie side. i think so.

Gib has alerted me to the fact that "those silly yanks arn't going to know what the [censored] we are talking about" - im paraphrasing here.

in light of this, i thought i would give all you taht are not-so-knowledgeable a quick refresher in...

The Rules of Cricket

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Easy yes?

Snitch, that is the perfect way to describe cricket, if you do not know what it is all about, you know even less after reading that.

Reminds me of the story of the two men in a balloon (or rather just under in that basket thingy). They get into some fog and get lost. After a while the fog clears, and they see a man in a field below.

One of the men yells down to the man and ask him: "Could you tell us where we are?", then man in the field answers "You are in a basket under a hot air balloon!", then the other man in the basket under the balloon ask the man below "Are you a mathematician?", the man below answers "Yes!".

The first man in the basket under the balloon then ask the second man in the basket under the balloon "How did you know?". "Well" says the second man in the basket under the balloon "he gave you a perfectly correct answer, that was of no use for you whatsoever!".

I know a half-dozen guys that were "scarred" by Cobol to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars in the late 90's because they met two very strict criteria:

1. they knew that "Cobol" was a programming language;
2. they didn't sleep much.

Unfortunately the panic wasn't as big on the other side of the pond, so no wirtschaftswunder for me. I guess the main reason was that most systems were developed later than in the US and therefore made to better standards. It would also require me to leave a job, that I really enjoyed for only about $10k more a year, a job that I thought then could last until retirement. Now 2 jobs later........

I just don't get it, there can't possibly be a scam in this...

Could it just be a lead up type thing. i.e. please send us some bibles, a month later, all our bibles are damaged, please send us some money to fix them, we need some money to build a church, etc.

[ QUOTE ]

Dear Brothers/sisters in christ.

I am very happy to write you this
letter as I pray and hope you will answer my writing for the holy bibles
for myself and the christian lepers that are with me."
I want to brief.
you little about myself. Sir i was born to the family of a chief priest
- a well known idol worshipping family, and married to the daughter of
another such family. we had four children, and lived their idol
worshipping life happily. Then everything changed.)My wife came back
from the city where he had gone to buy goats for our annual festival. He
came back to inform me of his encounter with a man of GOD that told him
about Jesus Christ and it was the first time He was hearing of that
name. He also told me the man of GOD said we should accept Jesus Christ
as our only lord and personal saviour.
We never really understand what
it means to accept Jesus Christ as our only lord and personal saviour
until two months later, April 25, when my wife encountered this man
of GOD again and he accompany my wife back to the village, that he
now taught us what it means to accept Christ as our lord and saviour. On
the 10th of May, 1994, we were baptized and started our home fellowship.
It was then that the trouble started.
The villagers including my
wife dad abducted my wife and sacrificed her to their gods, and
that same night they came to our house in the middle of the night and
set our house ablaze, and I lost my 2 sons and daughter to the inferno.

It was only a miracle that I managed to escape that night with my only
surviving son, but by the time the villagers got to know about why we
were running from our village, they too planned to use us for rituals,
and they believed we are accursed for believing in Jesus Christ. But God
had a purpose for me in life, and made one of the elders in the village
to have compassion on us and let us escape before the day we were to be
used as sacrifices to their gods.
We eventually settled in O. Leprosy
Centre where we were received with open arms. We were free from all the
disturbance as the lepers are rejected people in our society back here.
I was afraid to preach the gospel again as I was afraid of death. But on
October 27, 1999, God spoke to me in my dream that I should not be
afraid of death, for death is the gateway to eternity in Heaven for we
the believers... that HE preserved me and allowed all those persecutions
to happen to me so I can serve him... by the next day when I woke up I
realise for the 4 years I have been with the orphans, none of them have
ever heard of the gospel, and none of them knew anything about our Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ. So I started to preach the gospel of Jesus to
them.
Initially they refuse to listen as they believed nobody loves or
care about them and that Jesus I talk about is no different. But after
much preaching and praying for six months, I was able to convert 10 of
them for Jesus Christ. Today I am happy to say we are 163 in number, and
we now have a church that is called Lepers Fellewship Bible Church We
have been serving and doing the work of GOD diligently even with all the
hardship and untold neglect from the members of the larger society. We
don't even have a church building, and we use under trees for our
worship and services, but our major problem is the holy bible as only 23
members of the church have bibles. 6 of the bibles was from a man of God
some 7 years ago.
It has be my concern and prayers to get bibles for
my people. I choose to write you after i was told that bibles are easy
to come by in your country, i prayerfully write and i believe that the
lord God we reveal to you more of our needs. We are hereby appealing to
you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that you please have compassion
on us. For more than 3 years now we have been in the waiting list of
some churches and individuals who have promise to help us. It is only
one who sent us just five bibles. My members are lepers who can neither
work nor toil to buy bibles, and bibles are very expensive here in
Nigeria. We have been longing to have bibles.
(They are 65 in munbers
of the Christian lepers who are heads of households, wishing that each
could have a bible, to read it with their family.) We need KJV Bibles,
Please they need the large print type due to reading difficulty, We all
at the Lepers bible church have all heaved a sigh of relief since we got
your email address and we contributed money to send somebody to the city
which is about 45 miles from where we live, to type and send you this
request as we pray earnestly that you grant us our request and making
our dream of having bibles a reality.
May God Bless you For the work
you do for the cause of the kingdom
In Christ.

I dont think its a long shot that they are hoping for people to offer to send mobnies instead of bibles ... or to establish contact for a money scam because anyone dumb enough to send bibles to nigeria is likely gullible enough to ship monies too.

This is an interesting coincidence! Of course, I won one, and lost the other.

ZOMG! Online poker is RIGGED

The odds of drawing the same cards you just had (or rather drawing one specific two card hand) is 1325-1 (twice that if the order matters as they do not here, the black aces have switched position). So it is not very surprising to get same hand twice during a session, and if you are multitabling you are odds on to get one hand twice during some hours play.

But it is curious to see it.

Gib,

[ ] Americans know what you are talking about
[ ] Americans care about cricket
[ ] the average Aussie cricket supporter knows how to dress

that being said, Boof rocks and is a great South Australian and an aussie battler who never really got the number of caps that he deserved.
