Ok, this might be a bit anal but can I get the correct poker terminology on the word "leading."

I have always thought "leading" means you're leading into a pre-flop raiser or whoever was the aggressor in the previous street. When you were the only pre-flop raiser and everyone called, you're not "leading" into the field, you're betting correct?

[/ QUOTE ]

if u raise preflop from utg and get a few callers behind, when u bet the flop you're leading.

when someone else raises preflop and u call OOP, then bet the flop you are donk betting.

yeah - u r right. i mean im sure some poker nerds will chime in w some literal bs, but there is some connotation of breaking tempo w the word "lead" among people who have played a lot. so you are actually corrrect.

Re: HSNL [censored] Thread AUGUST

Leading is betting into people that haven't acted yet (more succinctly, betting when first to act). If the pfr is last to act, and several players check, then someone could donkbet here, but it would not be a lead... the term generally isn't used to refer to players who had the initiative already, which I assume is for clarity.

or at least that's the way I've always understood it

lol ansky yea i remember. similarly, earlier in the day, co opens, he calls on button, bb shoves, co folds, he calls with JTo and beats AK

ff, no haha. he wasnt a dick or anything like that to me. it was fun. by that point i was immune to beats. third hand of day i raise 34s in mid bb calls flop 567 he leads 15k i shove and fistpump but obv he has 89

so is he like really that bad, or just doesn't give a [censored], or both? wtf is his deal?

greg nice 09-01-2007 02:54 AM

Re: HSNL [censored] Thread AUGUST

hes way overaggro without really thinking about the spot hes in:

pete giordano opens in mid, he calls on button, flop 337 check check, turn Q, pete check, mohammad bets 25k, pete cr to 60k, mohamaad raises to 200, pete shoves for like 90 more, mohamad folds saying "ok i fold the queen you must have aces" lol obv lie

his style might work sometimes although he prob doesnt intend it like this. the 83 hand was pretty bad in itself. he def not getting equity vs my range. but once he shows hes willing to get in with as weak as that, certain types of weak players will incorrectly play tighter vs him because they fear their 'tournament life'. so if those types of ppl stop reraising you pre knowing they have no fold equity you can really take a lot of pots uncontested

but i cant say hes thinking on that level but who knows. he just seemed spewy/gambly type

Heres a random idea for a different kind of Hu tourney or SNG

you could make matches "tennis" style with one player getting the button for the whole game and making it first one to win 3 matches, win by two or w.e, with who gets the button the whole time alternating between games.

It would create a fun dynamic in the matches.

you do realize though if someone finds a way to lose 300bbs having the button the entire time, they are incredibly terrible HU?
