So, don't name your kid one thing, and call it something else, because thats a headache for a kid to explain the rest of their lives.

Don't name your kid something vague like Alana, Alena, etc, because thats a headache for a kid to explain the rest of their lives. (Just worked with a girl last summer, and it was such a pain in the ass to remember how 'her name goes' I just ceased using her name.) Then their name becomes 'hey'.

Another thing I've noticed is people try to pick an unusual name, like Aeden, only they'll come to find out that 2 million other people were thinking the same thing that year. My brother and good friend just both named their kids Aeden/Aedin in the last year, and they both thought it was a unique name. I'm sure they weren't alone.

I've always been a fan of making sure that the first name and middle name work together. I think my parents did a great job with names.

I always loved the name Rachel Maye, but she was a nympho, so that might have had something to do with it.

My ex-stepdaughter had the name Lily Delilah, which I also think is a great name.

Names like Brock, Tyler, Parker, and Bryce are for sure yuppie names.

Also, I just got on ancestry.com and began tracing my family back as far as I could on both sides. Alot of fun, and a great idea for getting names that actually mean something.

I'm still wishy washy on Oscar.

I told my finacee about this thread and she told me she has a friend who named her son HADES. Pronounced like the plural of made or, like AIDS.

As somebody witha reasonably normal weird name (basiclaly my parents gave me a first name I won't use) and have had to deal with the complications from that for a long time. There's a reason to be concerned. A stupid name will make a kid's life retarded. I'm all for being creative and original, but within some degree of reason plz.
