He was never the central focus of an episode's flashback. This episode didn't fit in with the rest. I don't think they are dead, I just can't buy it.

No, I saw everything....I was asking what everyone thinks will happen. Obviously they got buried alive, that doesn't mean the island can't save them somehow.

I'm really not sure on this one. As Homer mentioned above:

"Plus, little things like Locke saying the "nothing stays buried" and the guy in the beginning saying they can write Nikki "back in next season" makes me think this can't be a completely worthless, throwaway episode."



The writers clearly went out of their way to introduce these characters. I'm racking my brain trying to think of some purpose they served, and I can't think of anything really. Has to be something more, no?

Artz was introduced merely for some comic relief imo. He acted really annoying, everyone hated him, he died and we laughed.

Paulo and Nikki were clearly introduced for dramatic reasons and not comedic ones.

This episode just had a few too many *wink wink* *nudge nudge* lines for me, like the "who the hell"s and Nikki's "you won't die" when they find the plane.
