This really depends. Sometimes large words help communicate thoughts more quickly, and other times I use them just to sound smarter. In the latter smaller words usually work much better.

The way it comes off is really person dependant. Some people can use a large vocabulary and sound very elegant, whereas others just sound like they are trying really hard to appear smart. I think I fall into the 2nd group.

There is nothing wrong with this. Raggae isn't solely supposed to be listened to by black dudes with dredlocks is it? I say play what you like and don't give a sh*t what others think. And most people like their music loud in there car but there are definitely instances where you need to keep the music volume down.

Now maybe you are talking about fake-ass kids who think they like Reggae because it makes them look cool and black, when in fact, they really don't like the music but are just using it to look "cool" or whatever. Yeah that's lame.
