After reading these Hutz quotes and seeing that youtube clip, I now definitely prefer Hutz over McClure as far as Hartman's characters go. So damned funny.

He definitely was one of best characters back when the show was really good...but hasn't been nearly as great in the last 10 years or so. The fact that Homer never seems to be at work anymore probably has a lot to do with this.

Yeah, he used to be my favorite of all characters including any of the Simpsons. But they've watered him down a lot. He was at his best when most vicious and ridiculously self-absorbed. Hard to pull that off now that basically everyone on the show is a lovable nice guy.
