Re: Tiger Woods, just as an amateur, Casey Martin
On a side note, I had a chance to interview Jack back in my days as a sports guy. He was christening a new Nicklaus golf course north of Austin. I learned two extraordinary things that day:
1. Jack charges a fee of $2 million to design a golf course. 2. According to the press kit we were given, Jack had at that time 232 different golf courses in development around the world. |

So, by my fuzzy math, $464,000,000 in design fees?

There's quite a bit of overhead, but I wonder how much they profit per course? |

[/ QUOTE ] Wasn't trying to correct you, but I was curious about that number and how many he has done total, so I went to their website. http://www.nicklaus.com/design/facts.php Looks like Jack has 255 courses open worldwide. The company has 312. He averages 16 courses a year with 27 as the highest. They have 54 courses under construction. Not a bad living for all involved... |
Re: Tiger Woods, just as an amateur, Casey Martin
Oh, I guess 232 was a total number then. I misunderstood the press kit.
I am also pretty sure his fee is independent of construction costs, etc. |
