In this thread Des sounds like those screw ups from Pros Vs. Joes right before they get into the ring with Randy Couture. Randy then proceeds choke them out, arm bar, ankle lock and heel hook them into reality.

Des, in all seriousness, when I was 18 I thought I was entering college to learn to become the guy to crack the protein code and develop the first molecular nanotechnology robots (for further reading, google Eric Drexler). Since I was partying too much to ever make that a reality EVEN if I was as smart as I thought I was, that never panned out quite as planned. Just because I happen to be unhappy with my lot in life later, that previous ambition or pie in the sky dream doesn't give me the proper footing to write to the journal Nature and say, "Those scientists now aren't THAT good. I'm sure I could have cured cancer if I had only not (been an alcoholic in college|had a family|knew how to read| excuses|excuses|excuses).

Doing that just shows a level of insecurity with one's lot in life that's not flattering. And please, don't blame your family.

BTW, bigjoe, nice job at the 500K. That's sick [censored] but its making me uncomfortable with my lot in life so I'd appreciate you slowing down.

You can't compare Dali's expereince to mine. In 2004, he was playing $215 SNGs on Party; I had just discovered the $5.50s on Stars. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he a stay-at-home-dad for awhile with a wife who made enough to allow him to play poker from home and take care of the kids? I haven't had that luxury, so again, no comparison.

I was working 2 other jobs when our son was born and my wife was not working when I first started doing well in the 215's. 4 months later, I quit my FT job, (selling tires, WHEEE!) and only DJ'd weddings and poker then. I quit DJ'ing weddings about a year later. While I do have the luxury of having a wife who makes good $$$, I have always brought in my own $$$ too. So no, I was never really, and still really am not, a stay-at-home dad, other than the fact that I watch my kids alot and work at home.

You heard alot of jawing from Party players about how good they were but when they switched over to Stars and the Partyfish they didn't follow, you can see the results. Best to me means great on every site, against great opponents, and in every type of structure from reg/winnertakeallsat/6man/HU, etc.
