I hated the "Bob" commercials and his new vigor after taking that Viagra like product. That last thing I want to see on TV is a 60 year old man happy about his woody.

I also hate the commericial with the 4 old men driving around happy because of their new prostrate relief.

The goal of these ad campaigns is not to get your approval. It's to create brand awareness and increase sales. Can you guys sing the "By Mennen" jingle? They don't care if you approve of their ads, they want you to remember them.

I actually make it a point to avoid the product if the commercial annoys me or plays to me like I was some sort of moron. Sometimes these products are ones I would have ordinarly tried at some point. I do believe there's such a thing as a negative response from an ad, and I also believe it's not common. But there it is.

Radio-Auto dealership in Chicagoland "Mad" Max Madsen's has Max call his Doctor (voice actor makes the doctor sound like Apu x100) talking about Max's deals, and saying how Max "is Mad and Bad, but he's not crazy!"

Those Jetta TV ads are horrible. Whenever I think of Jettas now, I think about gettting blindsided in my car. What's next, a Trojan commercial where some guy falls down cause his groin feels like it's on fire? Hmm...

James Boston,

Are you honestly claiming that companies are 100% indifferent between creating commercials loathed by everyone and commercials loved by everyone, so long as they're equally memorable?

These are easily my most hated commercials. The Russian guy is running a close second.

I'll add the first PS3 ad that I saw as a particularly moronic one - (freaky looking baby alone in a room with PS3). Anything that brings up memories of the dead baby scene from Trainspotting can't be good for business.

RDH,

Well, not exactly. I was really responding to this thread (which is a bit over-critical), not making a blanket statement about advertising. While the goal isn't to annoy people for the sake of being memorable, it's also not to get a bunch of 18-24 year old males to say "OMFG that commercial pwned." Sometimes simple and pseudo-irritating work the best.

Nobody has mentioned the hdtv ad where the golfers are looking for a lost ball and everyone in the audience can see it plain as day. I friggin hate that commercial and refuse to watch it.
