Re: Harry Demetrieu Escorted Out of tournament??

The bottom line is that this entire series is run in a buffoonish manner, particularly given the amount of money flowing around that room. I had a rant about being 11-handed until 500 left in a 2700+ tourney last week. I also had a rant in the satellites because the $325 is the only one that doesn't have a 150/300 level. When I pointed this out, they said it was probably a typo but that they were not going to change it. LOL

Daniel also played in the Intercontinental Poker Challenge that's been on CBS, that was a shootout where only the winners got to move on.

Changing the payout structure after the tournament starts is riduculous. Deliberately changing the number of chips in play is ridiculous. Having to take 100 players to day 2, regardless of entrants, is also ridiculous...if only 200 people had signed up, would they run 100 heads up tables? Would those of you who don't have a problem with it changing to 6max think that's ok?

6-max was arbitrary. If 700 people entered, the tables would have been 7-handed. It's a wierd, strange format.

There were also random decisions on the amount of starting chips for the satellites (lower buy-ins are supposed to get less but that wasn't always happening).

They finally have some semblance of lines now, but there were several near-fistfights over the first few days because it was just a mob scene.

But now we are off-topic. It's been well-established that the organizers are out to lunch, the Omaha debacle today is just one more example.

Seems that of all possible solutions, Harrah's chose the one that would tick the most people off and announced it after play had begun.

Views on:

Final table 9 handed instead.
Second day, 9 handed instead, 81 players.
First day, 8 handed. 648 players on 81 tables.

Scrounge up 48 more players, or start some of the tables 7-handed. Can tweak the numbers a bit. But this way, most of the tables over the 3-days will start at least 8 handed.

Make the announcement and then delay the actual start a half hour. Let the dust settle. Play.

Edit: add

Notice it is Harrah's Entertainment, not Harrah's Gambling. The bean counters have taken over.

Harrah's acted unprofessionally in their lack of communication/planning about what would happen if there was not a sellout, and particularly in how they handled the apparently unexpected lack of a sellout (live chip stacks with no players signed up is ludicrous).

Harry D., by his own admission, acted unprofessionally by pitching a fit.

There. I think we're done.

"Harry D., by his own admission, acted unprofessionally by pitching a fit."

I would say passionately. Harry may have higher professional standards than others. His is a personal view that may not meet reality. Pros spit, kick, throw cards etc. in at least a high a proportion as the amateur populace.

Liberals should identify with his actions as should conservatives. It is called a vocal protest meant to disrupt and call attention to important (to them at least) issues. Many have seen more egregious acts on the evening news and said, "Right on, Bro!"

The censorship/removal of live reports on this at CardPlayer and PokerWire, however, is also possibly of greater or at least equal concern.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow. Even more amazing than that is that CardPlayer and PokerWire did not write anything about it. I guess money means more than good reporting. This is so [censored] up...

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know about you but I still see it up on PokerWire.

Last month at the Bellagio, I turned a set against Harry Demetrieu after 3-betting from my BB with 44 and betting into a flop with three overcards.

He was very polite about it.
