But they're all more or less great movies I think.

Still haven't seen Miller's Crossing and Blood Simple.

The Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty were below par to say the least.

I am so pumped for this movie. one of the funnier lines in the book is delivered very well by Woody Harrelson in this preview.

Some guy asks, "What is he supposed to be, the ultimate badass?"

Woody responds, "Compared to what, the bubonic plague?"

I saw mention of a Blood Meridian adaption, and I have to weigh in here and say that I don't believe that book would make for a good movie. It is too dense, and the characters won't work on screen. No Country was written to be adapted for film (at least it appears this way). I just think any movie based on Blood Meridean would pale in comparison to the book.

Yea, No Country for Old Men is orders of magnitude less complex than Blood Meridian. Making the latter would be possible (if they can cast the Judge), but it would be very tough and probably wouldn't be a big box office success.

I'm already predicting this will be my favorite Coen Bros movie since Miller's Crossing

You want a review of the book, or the movie? I can do the former. It's a good, quick, and entertaining read. The villain is a very memorable character. There is one segment that I think heavily detracts from the book, and there is at least one scene (or the lack thereof) that will likely piss off many viewers if the film stays close to the book. There are also a few plot holes.

It's a fine book but very much a minor work for McCarthy; it's simple both thematically and in terms of language.
